They often fly up and down, trying to block Mario's path near a pit. In Super Paper Mario, Spiky Parabuzzies appear on the Overthere Stair and in Castle Bleck. Spiky Parabuzzies lose their wings when stomped with Spike Shield equipped, causing them to become regular Spike Tops. Mario needs a Spike Shield, a Hammer Throw badge, or an item to attack them safely, as well as having a partner who can attack air enemies without touching the spike. Since they have both wings and a spiked shell, they cannot be jumped on and they cannot be attacked with hammers due to them being a type of Buzzy Beetle, fire and explosion attacks cannot hurt them.
